Emiway started his career in the underground grime scene at the age of 17. The Mumbai based rapper idolise Eminem & Wayne and derived him name Eminem from the combination of two. Ever since he rose to stardom, Bilal Shaikh, professionally known as Emiway, always branded himself as the best hip-hop rapper alive. The interesting fact is his commercial success comes solely with the use of social media unlike other rappers. He earned millions of Fans by Youtube and Instagram in a short span of time.

It all started when he was in class 10, he heard a classmate singing Eminem’s track Not Afraid. Bilal liked the song, but didn’t have any idea about the artist and the rap. Back home, he researched about the song and Eminem and within a matter of days got sound knowledge about rap music and Eminem.  Bantai (Friends call him, meaning Brother) was impressed and very much inspired by Eminem the best American Rapper.  Emiway had to go through a lot of hardships but was very passionate about music as we all know that failure is the key to success and so he worked very hard  managing his expenses and alongside learned hip-hop music. He had even worked as a helper for a café named Hard Rock Café.

Bantai made his music debut with his first English song Glint Lock (2013), before releasing his Hindi first hit single “Aur Bantai” in 2014. It crossed millions of views on YouTube garnering fans from all over India. He ranks high because of his skillfulness in lyricism and recording hip-hop songs. One can easily tell each of his hip-hop songs have a fantastic flow and follow a specific theme.  In fact, his popularity has meant that he recently reached this list, even when most of the people featured here have been in the industry for far longer than him. He collaborated with Indian-Australian Singer Celina Sharma for her song Lean On. He made a Song Khatam Karona (Finish Corona) at a time of lockdown it got much news coverage and appreciation he wanted.

He is the only artist to have won the Best Hip-Hop Artist (People’s Choice) Award at Radio City Freedom Awards for three  consecutive years (2017-2019).

Proud to be an Independent Artist is  a sensation on youtube. Hip Hop loves his Rap songs like Machayenge, Samaj Mein Aaya kya (Diss against Rapper Raftaar) by which he got lot of public attention. He has been part of many controversy with both new and old rappers namely mainly Raftaar, Krishna, Divine.
